Insights Tab

In this system-wide view, the Insights tab includes the following information:

• Top Users by Space Consumed Tile - A list of up to ten of the top users who consume the most space as file owners.
• Most Active Users Tile - A list of the top users (up to ten) who perform the most file operations (referred to as activities). The larger the user name, the more active the user. Clicking a user name opens a User Activity Tab for that user.
• Dormant Data Tile - Inactive file information. This tile shows the space consumed by files that have not been read or modified since the specified time interval.
• VM Summary Tiles - A representation of all VMs that have been added to inventory.

The Top Users by Space Consumed, Most Active Users, and Dormant Data tiles are constrained to reflect data for files that are part of the selected VM. In addition, the VM-version of the Insights tab also displays:

• Tags Distribution Tile - A summary of files that CloudAdvisor has tagged as containing specific, potentially sensitive information (for example, social security numbers, credit card numbers, URI, IPv4 addresses, Email addresses, or NPI numbers).
• File Count by Category Tile - A summary of the number of files found on the VM associated with predefined file type categories.
• File Distribution by Size Tile - A summary of the number of files on the VM categorized by file size and displayed in file size ranges.
• File Categories Over Time Tile - A summary of file space used by predefined file categories over time. Enables you to evaluate how the composition of the VM is changing over time.

Insight Views provide detailed, file-level information about selections that you make from Insights tiles. The following topics provide information about views that you can access from tiles in the Insights tab:

• Analyzing Dormant Data - Search results output for a specific dormant data age range. This view enables you to view files older than one month, three months, six months, nine months, or twelve months.
• Analyzing Tag Distributions - Search results output for specific, predefined tags (for example, social security numbers, credit card numbers, and so on).
• Analyzing File Distribution by File Size - Search results output for specific file size range categories. These categories range from file sizes under 50 Kilobytes to over 10 Gigabytes.
• Analyzing File Count by File Category - Search results output for specific file categories (for example, documents, images, videos, and so on).
• Analyzing File Categories Over Time - The number of files, grouped in predefined categories, that have been added to, or modified on, the VM over time.
