Analyzing Dormant Data

Dormant Data views provide search results output for a specific dormant data age range. This view enables you to view files in the following categories:

• > 1 Month – Older than one month
• > 3 Months – Older than three months
• > 6 Months – Older than six months
• > 9 Months – Older than nine months
• > 12 Months – Older than twelve months

This view enables you to quickly locate all files within a VM that have not been accessed or modified since the specified time interval.

The Dormant Data view is essentially a faceted search results view. This view is constrained to provide only search results for the Dormant Data tile age range category that you choose. The functions in a Dormant Data view are identical to the functions found in other search results views. For more information, see Using Search Results Views.

To open the Dormant Data view:

1. From the Home tab, select Discover > Insights.

2. Click a VM in the Insights summary.

3. In the Dormant Data tile, click the consumed space bar for the time period that you want to view.

   CloudAdvisor displays the results in a standard search display window. For more information, see Using Search Results Views.
