Using the Primary Navigation Icons

The primary navigation icons for the major functionality of HyTrust DataControl appear in a horizontal toolbar across the top, although which icons are shown depends upon the user’s privileges. All users see the last two icons, Audit Log and Alerts. The icons may have overlays (described at the end of this topic) with numbers, indicating the number of pending alerts, the number of nodes in a cluster, and so on.The icons include:

Navigation Icon Description
Security Click the Security Icon to create or configure new users or groups. For details, see Actions You Can Take by Clicking the Security Icon
Cluster Click the Cluster Icon to manage clusters. For details, see Actions You Can Take by Clicking the Cluster Icon
Cloud Click the Cloud Icon to manage cloud-based VM sets and to download client software. For details, see Actions You Can Take by Clicking the Cloud Icon

Details of the actions you can take by clicking the navigation icons appear below:

Actions You Can Take by Clicking the Security Icon

Clicking the Security Icon enables you to create or configure users or groups. Note that these capabilities are also available from the HyTrust scripting command line, in User and Group Management Using hicli. Here is the screen:

For details on creating new users, see Creating New Users Using the WebGUI.

For details on managing existing users, see Managing User Accounts.

For details on creating new Groups, see Creating and Managing Groups.

Actions You Can Take by Clicking the Cluster Icon

The Cluster icon enables you to edit various settings of the KeyControl clusters on which you are working, and to manage the servers hosting the KeyControl nodes.

For details on clusters, see Managing Clusters.

Actions You Can Take by Clicking the Cloud Icon

The Cloud icon enables you to download the HyTrust DataControl Policy Agent, create VM Sets, and manage the virtual machines in those VM Sets. It also lists unauthenticated VMs and enables you to authenticate them, and enables you to create Mappings.

For further details on downloading and installing the Policy Agent, see Downloading and Installing the Policy Agent on Windows and Downloading and Installing the Policy Agent on Linux.

For further details on creating VM Sets, see Creating VM Sets.

For further details on Mappings, see Managing the KeyControl List.

What the Navigation Icon Overlays Mean

The navigation icons communicate additional information about the content. The “X” over the number “2” on the Cluster Icon, for example, means that there are two servers in the cluster, and that they are in degraded mode. For further details, see Managing Clusters. When adding a KeyControl node to a cluster, you will see a lightning bolt overlay that persists until the node is authenticated. The "31" over the Alerts Icon tells us that there have been 31 unread alerts.
