Search Tab

The Search tab enables you to search the most recent version of all files, in the most recent DiscoveryPoint, for any selected target.

When using the Search tab, keep the following in mind:

A new Search tab is created each time you select Search from the Discover drawer.
All Search tabs remain open until you close them. In addition, if a Search tab is the active tab when you log out, the system displays the results for that search when you log back in.
Making changes in the search bar dynamically re-executes the search and displays the latest results.
Results can be filtered to show current files, deleted files, or all file versions. Making changes to the file versions drop-down menu dynamically re-executes the search and displays the latest results.
Changing the selection in the search target or file version drop-down menu dynamically re-executes the search and displays the new results.
Search tabs are saved across sessions. When you log back into CloudAdvisor, the system re-executes the search and displays the latest results.
When CloudAdvisor creates a DiscoveryPoint, it indexes all of the readable text files in the DiscoveryPoint, including all standard common file formats such as PDF, Microsoft Word, and HTML. These pre-existing indexes mean that even complex searches run very quickly in the CloudAdvisor interface.
performs a search, it ignores all extraneous file data (for example, formatting, graphics, and so on) and indexes the first 5 MB of text-only data within each file on the selected share. After indexing 5 MB of text-only data within a file, CloudAdvisor stops the indexing on that file and continues the index creation by moving on to the next file on the share.
The Search tab provides a Subscribe button for use in creating subscriptions. Subscriptions enable you to send scheduled email notifications for saved searches. For information about how to create a subscription, see Subscribing to a Saved Search.

Tab Information

Content	Description
Saved Searches menu	Drop-down menu providing a way of saving searches, a list of any previously saved private or public searches, and a search bar with which you can search for any saved searches. For more information, see Saved Searches.
Search Target drop-down menu	Drop-down menu that enables you to choose the VM on which you want to perform a search.
File Version drop-down menu	Drop-down menu that enables you to choose current files (the default), deleted files, or all file versions.
Search bar	Field that enables you to specify various search criteria. The search bar supports content, tag, user, file path, file property, fingerprint, and date searches.
Faceted Search Panel	Panel containing list-specific filter items. Enables you to modify the output by selecting or deselecting different filter options. For more information, see Filtering Search Results.
View Selection List	List of different views that you can use to extract information for the current search results. The other views include: Relevance View – Displays the relevance ranking of the files in the search results over time. Collaborators – Displays a chord diagram containing up to the top ten readers and top ten writers who have been involved with the files in the search results. Experience View – Displays which users performed the most read and update operations on the files in the search results.
