Search Syntax

Search uses a syntax that uses terms and operators when defining query strings. Terms are categorized into two types — single terms and phrases. A single term is a single word (for example, apple or orange). A phrase is a group of words surrounded by double quotes (for example, "apples and oranges").

Terms and operators are defined within fields. These fields are made up of option groups and individual options. Search currently supports the following option groups:

• Search Target – Enables you to choose to scope the search results to all VMs or a specific VM.

  Note:

  If you do not identify a specific target, CloudAdvisor searches all accessible systems.

• Tag – Enables you to select a specific tag option and apply defining criteria to that tag.
• User – Enables you to select any available system users.
• File Path – Enables you to specify file path match criteria.
• File Property – Enables you to search and filter on properties (meta data) associated with files.
• Created – Enables you to search on a specific file creation time or a time range in which files were created.
• Modified – Enables you to search on a specific file modification time or a time range in which files were modified.
• Accessed – Enables you to search on file access time or a time range in which files were accessed (created, read, or updated).
