Activity Tracking Tab

The Activity Tracking tab provides information about all user activities on a selected virtual machine. To access this tab from the Home tab, select Discover > Activity Tracking.

Using the Activity Tracking tab, you can:

Note: Time fields in CSV and TSV export results are reported in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). They can be converted to local time in Excel.

Tab Information

Content Description
Number of Activities Total number of activities performed on the VM (shown in parentheses).
Filter field

When you click in the Filter field, CloudAdvisor displays a pop-up menu with the available filter choices. Each option you select from the filter menu adds a filter tag to the field. To remove a filter tag, click the X in the tag.

The available filter field options include the following:

  • Quick filter options (Creates, Reads, Updates, Renames, and Deletes).
  • Add File Path – Displays a qualifier menu and a text bar for use in the file path search.
  • Operation – Filters the output based on selected operations.
  • User – Filters the output based on the selected users.
Note: After you add or change an option, click the Find button to refresh the output.
Search target drop-down menu

Enables you to change the activity output to reflect any activities for the selected VM. If you select a new VM in this menu, click Find to update the search results.

Find button Filters the output for the selected VM using the filters contained in the filter field. You must click the Find button to refresh the output following any change to the Filter field or after selecting a new VM.
Export drop-down menu

Exports any resulting table output to a specific file format. You can choose to export the view contents in comma-separated value (csv) and tab-separated value (tsv) format. For more information, see Exporting Search Results.

Activity time column Time at which an activity occurred. This value is provided in the format mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss using a 24-hour time specification.
User ID column

User ID associated with a specific activity. When clicked, opens the User Activity Tab for the selected user.

Operation column Operation performed by the user (for example, write, read, set ACL, and so on).
File Path column

Full file path to the manipulated file or directory. The file path is an active link that enables you to open the File Details Tab for the selected file or directory.

The Activity Tracking tab provides the convenience of being able to view activities on different VMs without having to open an activities view after accessing a specific VM tab. For more information, see VM Activities View.
