Using the Settings Icon to Configure Defaults

Links to Account Settings, Default Settings, Cloud Settings, System Settings, and Support Settings all appear, when you click the Settings icon, which appears on the home screen. As with the other options in the user interface, the settings that are shown depend upon the privileges of the logged-in user. The Settings Icon appears at the right end of the primary navigation icons, as shown below:

When clicked, your choices include:

  • Account Settings - Enables you to change the following items for the logged-in user:
    • Full Name
    • Change Password
    • E-mail Address
    • Send Alert Notifications to E-mail
    • Download Admin Key; for details, see Understanding the Admin Key.
  • Default Settings
    • Authentication - Enables you to set password complexity and expiration policy, in days, maximum failed logins, and minimum previous passwords. You can also switch between local and RADIUS authentication methods. For details, see Authentication Settings, elsewhere in this guide.
    • Admin Key Parts - Enables you to specify the number of key parts, and generate a new Admin Key. For details, see Understandng the Admin Key
    • Audit Log - Enables you to configure audit log size and external syslog settings. For details, see Logging and Auditing, in the System Administrator's Guide.
    • Account - Enables you to set the number of days after which the account expires. The default is 365.
    • Boundary Controls For details, see Boundary Controls
    • Mail Server - Enables you to configure your SMTP server. For details, see Mail Settings
    • Session Timeout - Enables you to set a global timeout period for webGUI session timeout. The maximum period you can set, which is the default, is 30 minutes.
    • SSL Configuration - Enables you to preconfigure the SSL settings used by HyTrust DataControl. For details, see SSL Configuration, elsewhere in this guide.
  • Cloud Settings
    • Cloud Settings - Enables you to set the default settings for Heartbeat and Grace Period. Note that the defaults, which are 5 minutes for the heartbeat and one day for the Grace Period. HyTrust recommends that you set the Heartbeat to be less than 1/10 of the Grace Period.
