Schedules Tile Full View
Expanding the Schedules Tile for a virtualization manager displays the Snapshot Schedule that has been assigned to each VM associated with the selected virtualization manager in the CloudAdvisor inventory.
A Snapshot Schedule defines how often CloudAdvisor requests a snapshot be created for each associated VM by the VM's virtualization manager. After the virtualization manager creates the snapshot, CloudAdvisor creates a corresponding DiscoveryPoint. For details, see Snapshot Schedules and DiscoveryPoints .
Updating the Assigned Schedule
- Select one or more VMs whose schedule you want to change.
- Click Update Schedule.
- In the Snapshot Schedule dialog box, if the schedule you want to use already exists, select it from the drop-down list.
- If you want to add a new schedule:
- Click the Add button.
- In the Snapshot Schedule dialog box, enter a name for the schedule and set the desired options. For details, see Creating a Custom Snapshot Schedule.
- Click Create.

Click Apply.
CloudAdvisor assigns the schedule to the selected VMs and updates the Schedules tile.
Creating a Manual Snapshot
- Select one or more VMs for which you want to the virtualization manager to create a snapshot. After the snapshot is complete, CloudAdvisor will create a corresponding DiscoveryPoint.
- Click Create Snapshot.

In the Create Snapshot dialog box:
- Enter a description for the snapshot.

Choose a Lock Status for the snapshot.
- Unlock (the default) leaves the snapshot, and the corresponding DiscoveryPoint, unlocked. The snapshot will be automatically deleted after DiscoveryPoint processing is complete. The DiscoveryPoint will be deleted after the retention period defined in the Insight Profile assigned to the VM.
- Lock specifies that the snapshot, and the corresponding DiscoveryPoint, are locked cannot be deleted. If you select this option, you need to manually unlock the snapshot before you can remove it or its corresponding DiscoveryPoint.
- Click Create.
- To view the snapshots for a particular VM, click the name of the VM and look at the DiscoveryPoints tile on the VM Details Tab.
