Creating a Custom Snapshot Schedule

  1. From the Home tab, select System > Snapshot Schedules.
  2. On the Snapshot Schedules tab, click the + (Add New) button.
  3. In the Snapshot Schedule dialog box, enter the following information:

    Description

    Name A user-defined name for the Snapshot Schedule.

    Status

    Whether the schedule is On or Off. If the Status is set to Off, no automatic DiscoveryPoints will be created for the VMs associated with this schedule.

    Type

    The frequency with which CloudAdvisor should request the virtualization manager associated with the VMs should create a snapshot for those VMs. Whenever the virtualization manager makes a snapshot, CloudAdvisor will create an associated DiscoveryPoint.

    If you select:

    • Hourly, enter the number of hours between snapshots and the number of minutes past the hour that you want to use. For example, if you select 8 hours and 15 minutes past the hour, CloudAdvisor will request a snapshot every day at 12:15 AM, 8:15 AM, and 4:15 PM.

    • Daily, select the time at which you want CloudAdvisor to request the snapshot.
    • Weekly, select the days of the week and the time on those days that you want CloudAdvisor to request snapshots.
  4. Click Create.
