Expanding the DiscoveryPoints tile for a VM or selecting Views > DiscoveryPoints on the VM Details Tab shows additional information about the DiscoveryPoints associated with the VM.
Note: | Some of the information displayed on this tab varies depending on whether CloudAdvisor is accessing the VM through a virtualization manager or a backup provider. For example, if the DiscoveryPoint row contains a green shield icon, that means either that the corresponding snapshot is still available (for VMs accessed through a virtualization manager), or that the backup file is still available (for VMs accessed through a backup provider). |
If you want to:
Delete DiscoveryPoints or snapshots, select one or more unlocked DiscoveryPoints and click Delete.

Search |
The search boxes at the bottom of some columns let you filter the list of DiscoveryPoints by those columns. If you enter search criteria in multiple search fields, CloudAdvisor only shows those DiscoveryPoints that match all selected criteria (logical AND). The Date field lets you enter a range of dates and the text search fields are case insentive. |
|||
Show drop-down list | Defines the number of DiscoveryPoints that appear in each page of the output table.
Unlock button |
For VMs accessed through a backup provider, this button unlocks the DiscoveryPoint. Unlocked DiscoveryPoints are deleted after the retention period defined in the Insight Profile assigned to the VM. For VMs accessed through a virtualization manager, this button unlocks any selected (checked) snapshots and associated DiscoveryPoints. Unlocked snapshots are automatically deleted after DiscoveryPoint processing is complete, and their associated DiscoveryPoints are deleted after the retention period specified in the Insight Profile assigned to the VM. Once a snapshot is unlocked, it cannot be locked again. |
|||
Delete button |
Deletes any selected (checked) unlocked DiscoveryPoints as long as the DiscoveryPoint:
For VMs accessed through a backup provider, deleting a DiscoveryPoint does not affect the associated backup file in any way. For VMs accessed through a virtualization manager, if the selected DiscoveryPoints have associated snapshots, you can choose to delete the snapshots but keep the DiscoveryPoints. If you delete the snapshot associated with a DiscoveryPoint, you no longer have the ability to restore files from that DiscoveryPoint.

|||
Gold Lock Icon |
For VMs accessed through a backup provider, the gold Locked icon indicates that the DiscoveryPoint is locked and cannot be deleted. For VMs accessed through a virtualization manager, the Locked icon indicates the snapshot associated with the DiscoveryPoint is locked. Neither the snapshot nor the associated DiscoveryPoint can be deleted until the snapshot is unlocked. |
|||
Green Shield Icon |
For VMs accessed through a backup provider, the green Shield icon indicates that the backup file associated with this DiscoveryPoint is still available. For VMs accessed through a virtualization manager, the green Shield icon indicates that the snapshot associated with the DiscoveryPoint is still available. DiscoveryPoints with a snapshot allow you to restore deleted files. |
|||
Time Range | Time range over which the DiscoveryPoint was created. The time is provided in mm/dd/yy hh:mm:ss format.
Status | Status of the DiscoveryPoint (e.g., processing or analyzed).
Type | Type of DiscoveryPoint created (e.g., administrative, manual, scheduled).
Description | Optional description provided for the DiscoveryPoint when it was created.
Changed | Number of changed files since the previous DiscoveryPoint was created.
Deleted | Number of deleted files since the previous DiscoveryPoint was created.
Filter bars |
Filter bars let you display a subset of the available DiscoveryPoints. You can filter the list using any combination of Time Range, Type, Description, Changed, and Deleted columns. If you enter search criteria in multiple filter bars, CloudAdvisor only shows those DiscoveryPoints that match all specified criteria (logical AND).
