Adding Virtualization Managers

A "virtualization manager" is virtual machine management software, such as VMware vCenter, through which CloudAdvisor can access the VMs you want to monitor.

Adding a virtualization manager gives CloudAdvisor access to all of the VMs that are associated with that virtualization manager. After you add the virtualization manager, you can then add one or more of the associated VMs to CloudAdvisor's inventory.

You must add at least one virtualization manager when you set up CloudAdvisor, but you can additional virtualization managers at any time.

Note: If you are using CloudAdvisor for Data, you will be able to analyze any VM associated with the defined virtualization managers using VMware snapshots. If you are using CloudAdvisor for Availability, data on the VM can only be read through Veeam Backup and Replication backups. In this case, the virtualization manager defined here is only used for infrastructure tasks.
