Viewing a Static Secret

Note: Although static secrets do not have an explicit checkout option in the KeyControl Vault for Secrets webGUI, accessing a secret is referred to as a checkout in both the PASM CLI (checkout-secret) and the API (CheckoutSecret). So if you view the action in the audit log, the audit message will read that the secret was 'checked out' whether it is a managed or static secret.

To view a static secret as a vault user:  

1. From the KeyControl Vault for Secrets webGUI, select Secrets.

2. On the Secrets page, click the static secret that you want to view.

3. In the Secret window, click the eyeball icon to view the secret.

4. Click Close to close the window.

To view a static secret as an administrator: 

1. From the KeyControl Vault for Secrets webGUI, select Manage > Manage Boxes.

2. On the Manage Boxes page, select the box that contains the secret that you want to view.

3. On the Box page, select the static secret that you want to view.

   The Secret Details page displays information about the secret.

4. Click the eyeball icon to view the secret.

5. Click Close to close the window.
