Viewing the Cluster Status

  1. Log into the KeyControl Vault Management webGUI using an account with Domain Admin privileges.
  2. In the top right, click the Switch to Appliance Management link.
  3. In the top menu bar, look at the Cluster icon. If there is a green heart, the cluster is healthy. If there is a red X, the cluster is degraded. You can also look at the Status field on the Cluster tab.

For example the following screenshot shows a healthy cluster containing two KeyControl nodes.

If the cluster were degraded, the status would look like this:

  4. To view the status of the individual servers in the cluster, click the Servers tab. The Status column shows the status for each server in the cluster:

    Maintenance
Same as cluster status, going through rolling upgrade.
    Offline
    Unreachable and unavailable
    Online
    Reachable and available.
    Unavailable

Server to server connection (port 5432) works, but the KMIP Database is read-only.

    Unreachable
Unable to connect to the server (port 8443).

Tip: To sort the unreachable servers to the top, click the Down Arrow (v) in the Status column and select Sort Descending.

  5. A yellow star appears before the server name of the node that has been designated as the KMIP database master node. The other nodes in the cluster are replica nodes.

All KMIP requests are forwarded to the master node for execution and when the master node's database is updated, all replica nodes receive the new updates synchronously.
