Backing Up the KeyControl Cluster

The object store is identical for every KeyControl node in the cluster, so you can back up the entire cluster from any node in the cluster.

When you back up, the backup image is encrypted and protected by the Object Store Key (which is ultimately protected by the Admin Key). Backup can be done via the WebGUI or via NFS. The following procedure describes how to back up KeyControl with the webGUI. For information about backing up with NFS, see the HyTrust DataControl Administration Guide.

1. Log into the KeyControl webGUI on any node in the cluster using an account with Domain Admin privileges.
2. In the top menu bar, click Cluster and go to the Cluster tab.
3. Click Actions > KeyControl Backup.

4. In the KeyControl Backup dialog box, review the information about the most recent backup. If you want to:

   • Use the existing backup, click Download.
   • Create a new backup, click Perform Backup. When the backup is finished, click Download.
3. KeyControl downloads the backup file called ServerName-TimeDateStamp.bu to your browser's default download directory.
