Creating a Vault

KeyControl Vault security administrators create vaults and assign an administrator to each vault.

The vault administrator is sent the URL and a temporary password, allowing them to access and configure the vault. The vault administrator is responsible for the vault and has full control.

The KeyControl Vault administrator does not have access to the vault by default.

To create a vault

  1. Log on to the Vault Management UI.

  2. Select Create Vault.The Create Vault page appears.

  3. Enter the vault details:

    Type

    Select the vault type.

    Name Enter the name for the vault.

    Description

    Optional: Enter a description for the vault.

    Admin Name Enter the name of the vault administrator.

    Admin Email

    Enter the email address of the vault administrator.

    An email is sent to this email address, inviting the vault administrator to configure and manage the vault.

  4. Select Create Vault.

An email is sent to the vault administrator. The email provides the URL of the vault and a temporary password. The vault administrator logs on to the vault with the temp password and is prompted to change their password.
