Configuring Alert Monitoring with SNMP v2

You can configure either a trap or polling server.

Configuring a Trap Server

  1. From the Home tab, select System > System Settings.

  2. Select Settings > Monitoring.

  3. Select the SNMP tab.

  4. Click the Add button.

    Note: If there are no SNMP servers configured, you can also click the Add SNMP Servers Now link.

  5. In the Add SNMP Server window, in the Type tab, select v2.

  6. Click Continue.

  7. In the Configure tab, select Enabled and enter the following information for the Trap server:

    Value

    Name The name to identify the trap server.

    Community String

    Enter the community string required to access the server.

    Trap Server

    Enter the FQDN or IP address of the trap server.

    Port

    The port to be used for the SNMP v2 server.

  8. Click Continue.

The trap server is configured and added to the SNMP tab.

Configuring a Polling Server

  1. From the Home tab, select System > System Settings.

  2. Select Settings > Monitoring.

  3. Select the SNMP tab.

  4. Click the Add button.

    Note: If there are no SNMP servers configured, you can also click the Add SNMP Servers Now link.

  5. In the Add SNMP Server window, in the Type tab, select v2.

  6. Click Continue.

  7. In the Configure tab, select Enabled and enable the Polling setting.

  8. Complete the following information for the Polling server:

    Name The name to identify the polling server.

    Community String

    Enter the community string required to access the server.

  10. Click Continue.

The polling server is configured and added to the SNMP tab.
