About VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)

VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) is a VMware solution used to implement a software-defined data center (SDDC) which automates configuration, provisioning, and lifecycle management. VCF provides an integrated stack which bundles Compute Virtualization (VMware vSphere), Storage Virtualization (VMware vSAN), Network Virtualization (VMware NSX-T), and Cloud Management and Monitoring (VMware vRealize Suite) into a single platform. This platform can be deployed on-premises where the customer is responsible for managing the physical infrastructure and virtual machine workloads, or it can run As-a-Service in a public cloud where the cloud provider manages the underlying infrastructure, and the customer manages the virtual machine workloads.

When you add an SDDC manager to CloudControl, you can view the inventory of the vSphere and NSX-T resources and create access control policies that allow you to determine who can the resources in your VCF deployment.
