The following procedure describes how to deploy the CloudAdvisor Virtual Appliance to a VMware vSphere cluster.
Note: | The procedure uses the VMware vSphere client version 6.0.x. If you are using a different version of vSphere, the procedure may be different. If you have any questions, consult your vSphere documentation. |
Specify the desired network configuration.
You can configure CloudAdvisor so that all management and data/storage traffic goes over the Default interface or you can split the network traffic so that management and client activity traffic goes over the Default network while storage or backup traffic, such as communication to Veeam, traverses the Secondary network.
If you want to use the Vitals service or if you want to use an activation key for your CloudAdvisor license, the Default interface must support outbound internet access on TCP port 443. The Secondary interface does not require public outbound access.
Depending on the network technology and capabilities of your network, you may want to enable 10GB Ethernet on the interfaces.
