Insight Management

CloudAdvisor insight management consists of:

• Insight Policies. An Insight Policy provides the ability to respond to content and activities that could result in compliance, data security, and data availability issues. Insight Policies let you:

  • Define a trigger based on a combination of users, content, activities, and time.
  • Identify VMs to monitor for the trigger.
  • Generate system events, label a VM in HyTrust CloudControl, encrypt a VM with HyTrust DataControl, send email notifications to a set of users, notify Slack channels or users, tag VMs in vSphere, and create snapshots.

• Insight Profiles. An Insight Profile specifies the Tags that CloudAdvisor should look for on the VMs associated with that Insight Profile. It also specifies the default retention time for DiscoveryPoints created on the associated VMs. (For details about DiscoveryPoints, see CloudAdvisor Terminology.)

  One Insight Profile can be associated with many VMs, but each VM can only be associated with one Insight Profile.

• Tags. Tags are regular expression (regex) search definitions used to identify specific content and patterns within files. CloudAdvisor comes with a set of default tags such as US_SS (United States Social Security numbers), CC (Credit Card numbers), and BirthDate.

  In addition, you can create any number of custom tags using the built in regex editor.

  You can associate any number of tags with an Insight Profile, which in turn is associated with one or more VMs. You can also use tags when doing an ad-hoc search on the Search tab.
