Setting the System Date and Time

Network Time Protocol (NTP) is a networking protocol that synchronizes time within a few milliseconds of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) on participating devices across packet-switched data networks. CloudAdvisor synchronization is accomplished through the use of an NTP server.

Note: As time servers can be inaccessible from time to time, we recommend that you specify three time servers to provide time server access redundancy.

To ensure that time is synchronized across your network, in addition to the CloudAdvisor date and time configuration, use the same NTP servers for the following:

Procedure

  1. Specify the following properties in the Date & Time configuration window:

    Field Name Description
    Time Zone

    Select a time zone by clicking on the map or by selecting it in the drop-down list.

    NTP Servers

    Enter an IP address or fully-qualified domain name of a time server. To specify multiple NTP servers, separate their IP addresses or domain names with spaces.

    Domain names cannot include spaces or these special characters:

    ,~:!@#$%^&’()[]{}

    Example: ca.pool.ntp.org <space> us.pool.ntp.org

  2. To verify the configuration, click Test.
  3. Click Continue.
  4. Proceed to Configuring Active Directory.
