Licensing Requirements

HyTrust CloudAdvisor can analyze the data contained in a VM as well as monitor the user activities on that VM. The issues that CloudAdvisor looks for are defined in content-based or behavior-based Insight Policies.

• A content-based Insight Policy monitors content for specific match criteria including tags, file fingerprints, properties, and user interactions with that specific content and allows you to perform actions on the content found.
• A behavior-based Insight Policy watches activity thresholds for interactions with files across the entire eco-system, a specific system, or specific file paths in a system and allows you to perform actions on the information found. Thresholds can be established based on a specific user or a set of users.

CloudAdvisor is a licensed product. HyTrust offers the following license options:

• CloudAdvisor for Data — This fully-featured version can analyze the content in, and monitor user activity on, VMware VMs managed by VMware vCenter Server or protected with Veeam Backup and Replication v9.0 and up. It also includes support for both behavior-based and content-based Insight Policies.

• CloudAdvisor for Availability — This version can only analyze the content in backups of VMware VMs that are protected with Veeam Backup and Replication v9.0 and up, and it only supports content-based Insight Policies.

All other CloudAdvisor features are supported in both versions.

If your license expires, access to the product features will be suspended and all product alerts and notifications will be disabled. DiscoveryPoint processing will, however, continue to operate and once your license is renewed, full access and functionality will be restored.
